The 12th Level Trail, named after a nearby mine entrance, travels through Nordegg’s old mining areas and is one of the most popular mountain bike trails in the region. To reach the trailhead, follow the roads behind the town past the Brazeau Colliers entrance. Ascend the OHV-only road up the mountain, turning right onto Esprit Road, then left for the final ascent to the cell tower, marking the trail’s beginning.
Featuring loamy single track, sweeping turns, and steep descents, the trail offers a diverse riding experience. Midway, a brief road transfer leads to the trail re-entry on the left. The lower section provides various options, with the original trail featuring jumps and notable features. ‘Where’s the Beef’ offers a challenging ridge line and steep fall line. Before descending, enjoy the panoramic viewpoint.
